From a quick perusal through the blogosphere, it is just dawning on me the extent to which Cowen's efforts have backfired with this Cowengate / Picturegate scandal. Not content with trying to solve the economic problems following his predecessors' economic bubble parties, he decided not to let a sleeping dog lie. The RTÉ report would have been laughed over and forgotten. But no - he's opened the floodgates to the likes of this (imagery at the following link WILL offend):

Perhaps he should not stop at replacing his economic advisors... an opening for a new Government Press Secretary might be on the books. I wonder who the advisor was that told him to send the Gardaí to Today FM. Quite frankly, I find it hard to believe that he was given such poor advice unsolicited. Whatever the motive, I actually feel a little sorry for the Cowen, despite his crony associates. Why couldn't something like this have happened to Bertie???

At least it makes for a good story and a welcome distraction from the ceaseless bad economic news.
